Last stop on this leg of the tour was 1) Denver’s Tattered Cover on Colfax, a giant among indie bookstores, and a place I’ve been wanting to visit for years. 2) Thanks to Beth Wood at the bookstore for the extraordinary welcome and enthusiasm!
3) I signed books and together we refashioned nearly 40 old T-shirts!!
4) With Beckie as my first model (I hated to cover the super cute refashioned tee she was already wearing!), we made yet another Back in Action tee (project #101). Then my lovely volunteer Helen stepped up for the Pinup Girl halter transformation (project #1). 5) In addition to my undeniable devotion to my sewing machine, did I mention I like no-sew projects?–here’s the Shake It Up Baby skirt (project #59) and the Tic Tac Boa (project #115).
Old friends–6) hey Beth! 7) hey Dave and Aleana!–thanks for showing the love!
New friends, too! 8 ) Cutting into the sides of a tee make the Knot So Fast tank top (project #104). 9) Victoria showed up in this hybrid design from the first book: Brokenhearted (project #2) plus Lace Age (project #17).
10) Victoria and Isabel dig voraciously into a pile of T-shirts!
11) Two books, 228 projects total–keep cutting, people (and don’t forget to use those scraps!)
I can’t wait to come back again for a visit!!

In a “Where’s Waldo” of TV appearances, Generation T: Beyond Fashion made a brief and subtle appearance on Good Morning America this morning. If you pay (very, very) close attention to the how-to books table, you’ll notice a blue and green spine sitting next to my friend Jessica Hopper‘s book, The Girls’ Guide to Rocking, at about 1:38, with a closeup at about 1:30. See if you can spot it!
Here’s a closeup. Look at the lower right corner….
That’s it!

This morning I stopped in the studio at The Denver Channel (KMGH) to refashion a halter top with host Bertha Lynn. She’s just delightful and it was great to be on her show sharing some projects from book 2!
And here’s the full spread, like a Thanksgiving dinner of T-shirt fashion:

Event Coordinator Holly and volunteer Megan made the event at the 1) Changing Hands bookstore delightfully fun. Lots of new faces came out! 2) Maria (in the pink shirt) was my first model from the audience. 3) Then we made the Pinup Girl halter (project #1) again.
4) Folks checked out the book at the table display; 5) My friend Hannah from NH lives right around the corner from the bookstore, not to mention my email pal Sara who attended, wearing a superb DIY top; 6) And let’s not forget that great ASU swing skirt (Flare Thee Well skirt, project #61, from the first book), and its maker, who made an appearance!
Thanks again to all who came and saw me off to my flight to Denver–I can’t wait to see what you make!

Last stop today (before Changing Hands bookstore tonight!) was Arizona Midday (KPNX-TV) with host Destry Jetton, where we refashioned a large T-shirt into the Stop, Crop, and Roll fluttery cropped tank top (project #10).
Perhaps more exciting than seeing my name on the dry erase board (on at 1:40 p.m.!) was another couple of guests on the show today…
Forget the lions and bears–it was two baby white tigers, oh my! About the size of full-grown house cats, these little sweethearts were very into exploring the set and meeting all the crew members. Needless to say, even after they were fed, it took some wrangling to keep Sonya and Celine in front of the cameras for the length of their segment!
These two cuties from the Wildlife World Zoo & Aquarium had everyone at “rawr!”…
And, when they settled down for some petting and photo ops after, well, we were all melting.
Here’s me with Celine.

Arizona strikes again! I visited my third TV studio this morning, Sonoran Living Live (ABC) with host Stephanie Sandoval, where we taped a segment to air later in July.

This morning was busy here in hot-hot-hot Phoenix! First stop Fox 10 News (KSAZ-TV) with hosts Rick D’Amico and Alexis Del Chiaro for some T-shirt transformation. Scroll down for the video! (And hold out for the Brooklyn shout-out at the end…)

I was lucky enough to have a full day off yesterday in Austin. Good for resting, shopping, exploring, and eating lots of ice cream! (Seriously, until my dinner, all of my meals involved frozen desserts–it’s a delicious way to stay cool in 104-degree heat.) But tonight was action packed, too. Workshop-style, we refashioned a ton of T-shirts that people brought (and BookPeople provided some thrifty finds, too!). 1) I’m glad I made it in to BookPeople before the Potter Explosion! 2) Rachel gets right to work on a Mane-iac Scarf (project #91).
3) Grant and his crafty mama get to work on a Mighty My Tee superhero cape (project #55); 4) Rachel gets the Pinup Girl (project #1) treatment; 5) Farrah gets Back in Action (project #101).
6) Back in Action (project #101) repeating the looping action twice and three times; 7) Applying the looping action on the sleeves!
8 ) Looping technique to show off a new torso tattoo! 9) Front desk at BookPeople; 10) Making some T-shirts.
11) No stitching (just cutting!) tonight for Jenny Hart of Sublime Stitching who was nice enough to come out for the event 12) More T-shirt projects!
13) Me and my new pal Phia; 14) a couple of Generation T refashionistas; 15) goodnight, Bookpeople!
Thanks, all, for a great Tee Party!
